Ingredients

  • 3⁄4 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1⁄4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 20 chicken wings/flats and drumettes
  • Olive oil, as needed
  • 1 cup of your favorite barbecue sauce
  • 1⁄2 cup honey

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, chili powder, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder and cayenne pepper. Coat the wings in the seasoned flour evenly, shaking off any excess.
  3. Place the floured wings on a parchment paper–lined baking sheet drizzled with olive oil and spread them out in a single layer.
  4. Bake the wings for 12 minutes then turn the wings over and bake for an additional 12 minutes, or until the wings are cooked through and lightly caramelized. Remove from the oven and set aside as you prepare the wing sauce.
  5. Preheat oven to 500 degrees Fahrenheit.
  6. In a separate bowl, combine the barbecue sauce and the honey. Toss the cooked wings in the sauce and coat them evenly.
  7. Place the coated wings back onto the baking sheet and spread them in a single layer. Bake for 5 to 8 minutes, until sauce is bubbly and caramelized. Remove the wings from the oven and then serve.
