Instructions
Ingredients:
- 1 12oz pkg of goat cheese (softened)
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon of nutmeg
- Salt to taste
- 2 pastry sheets
- ¼ cup AP Flour
- 16 oz pkg guava paste
- ½ cup of powdered sugar
- Egg wash (2 eggs /2 tablespoons of water & 1 tablespoon of sugar whisked together)
Method:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Place goat cheese in a large bowl, add the nutmeg and cinnamon and mix well. Add a pinch of salt. Continue to mix until the mixture is smooth and set aside.
- Dust the flat surface, preferably a cutting board with all-purpose flour. Place one pastry sheet on top of the cutting board. And make sure it's laid out flat.
- Cut guava paste into 3-inch squares and lay it on top of the pastry sheet, leaving an inch between each square.
- Coat each piece of guava pastes with the goat cheese mixture, until all squares are coated with goat cheese.
- Next, place the second piece of pastry sheet on top of the guava paste and goat cheese and seal off all the sides. Cut the pastries into uniform pieces. Make sure all sides of the pastries are sealed after you cut the pastries into squares, pinching the sides or sealing them with a fork.
- Place a piece of parchment paper on a baking sheet and lay each pastry on top of the parchment paper. Brush each pastry with the egg wash mixture and then cut 2 to 3 slits into each pastry.
- Place pastries in the oven, set at 350° for 15 minutes until pastries are golden brown. Remove from the oven, dust with powdered sugar and serve.
