Source: Powerhouse Productions / CLEO TV

Ingredients

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 10 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, separated
  • 1 8x8-inch premade or store bought brownie, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 dozen store-bought chocolate chip cookies
  • 2 quarts whipped cream
  • 2 cups strawberries (plus 6 more), stemmed and cut in half
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 quart chocolate ice cream

Instructions

  1. Place the heavy cream in a small saucepan and bring just to a boil. While the heavy cream heats up, chop 8-ounces of the chocolate into small pieces, similar in size to chocolate chips, setting 2 ounces of the chocolate aside as a garnish. Place the chocolate in a heatproof medium bowl and set aside. Once the cream is heated, pour it over the chocolate and let it sit, for at least 1 minute and up to 3 minutes. After the resting time with the cream, use a rubber spatula to stir the chocolate and cream until well combined and smooth. Set aside as you prepare the trifle.
  2. In a large trifle bowl, place half the brownies in the base of the bowl and press down to fit. Top the brownies with about 8 chocolate chip cookies and press them down to form one layer. Add 11⁄2 cups of whipped cream and use a spatula to spread the whipped cream to form an even layer. Take about 2 cups of the strawberries and place in the trifle bowl against the edge with the cut side facing outward. Drizzle about 1⁄2 a cup of the chocolate ganache over the strawberries, followed by about 1⁄2 cup of the chocolate chips, and 1⁄2 cup of the white chocolate chips.
  3. Add another 8 chocolate chip cookies being sure to press the cookies down to keep an even layer. Top the cookies with another 1⁄2 cup of the chocolate ganache, followed by another layer of the brownies. Drizzle with more of the chocolate ganache, 1⁄2 cup of chocolate chips, and another 1⁄2 cup of the white chocolate chips. Top the chips with the remaining chocolate chip cookies, followed by whipped cream spread over the top. Use the remaining semi-sweet chocolate bar to chop into bits to spread over top the last whipped cream layer. Place the remaining strawberries fanned out over top the whipped cream.
  4. Serve with a side of chocolate ice cream.
