Ingredients
- Cheesy Baked Spaghetti
- Olive oil
- 1 large white onion, diced
- 8 garlic, roughly chopped
- 1 small bunch basil, chiffonade
- 16 ounces pureed tomato (or your favorite tomato sauce)
- 2 teaspoons granulated onion powder
- 2 teaspoons granulated garlic powder
- ½ -1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- Kosher salt
- Cracked black pepper
- 1 pound spaghetti, cooked
- 3 cups grated mozzarella, divided
- 2 cups grated provolone, divided
- 1 cup grated parmesan cheese, divided
- .
Instructions
Preheat a large saute pan to medium high heat with a drizzle of olive oil. Add the onion and garlic and saute in the oil until the onions are translucent in color. Add the basil and stir. Pour in the tomato sauce and season with granulated onion powder, granulated garlic powder, sugar, salt and pepper as desired. Give it a good stir and bring up to a simmer and cook for about 15 to 20 minutes over medium heat covered with a lid (this helps avoid splatter). At this point you can fold the cooked spaghetti into the tomato sauce. Then add half of the mozzarella, provolone, and parmesan cheese over the pasta and fold in gently. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Pour the spaghetti into a prepared casserole or baking dish (preferably one that is deep). Evenly sprinkle the top with the remaining cheeses. Bake the spaghetti until the top is golden brown and bubbly roughly 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes before cutting into. Grate more parmesan cheese on top and serve!
