Nicki Minaj has not been arrested after her former manager, Brandon Garrett, filed a civil lawsuit accusing her of physical assault during a 2024 tour stop in Detroit. The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office reviewed the allegations but determined there was insufficient evidence to support the claim, leading them to deny a warrant request for Minaj’s arrest.

Garrett alleges that the altercation occurred after Minaj’s performance on the Detroit leg of her “Gag City” tour in April 2024. He claims that Minaj called him into her dressing room to question him and other team members about their duties. The situation reportedly escalated when Garrett had someone else pick up Minaj’s prescription. He says that Minaj became furious, shouting, “Are you f—ing crazy having him pick up my prescription? You have lost your f—ing mind, and if my husband were here, he would knock out your f-cking teeth. You’re a dead man walking. You just f—ed up your whole life and you will never be anyone, I’ll make sure of it.”

According to Garrett, Minaj then struck him in the face with an open hand, knocking his hat off. He also claims that her security team got involved, forcing him into a confrontation. After the incident, Garrett says he retreated to a restroom to nurse his injuries and later called his fiancée to explain what had happened. He claims Minaj’s team left him stranded in Detroit.
Garrett is suing Minaj for assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress, seeking undisclosed damages. Minaj’s legal team quickly responded, rejecting the allegations. Her attorney, Judd Burstein, stated, “At this time, no complaint has been served upon Mrs. Petty (Minaj’s married name), and therefore, we are unaware of the specific allegations. However, if the lawsuit is as reported by TMZ, it is completely false and frivolous. We are confident that the matter brought by this ex-assistant will be resolved swiftly in Mrs. Petty’s favor.”

This lawsuit is not Minaj’s first legal dispute with a former employee. In 2020, her former stylist, Maher Jridi, filed a lawsuit claiming Minaj had refused to return designer items and had not paid his fees, causing financial distress.
